Starcross - Town class butty

Built in 1936 by Walker Bros. of Rickmansworth.

Fully converted with outboard engine attached. Original rudder and tiller in storage at Bates Boatyard. Roof is sturdy but some external panels need replacing, hence the waterproof cover. Hull survey June 2016 is available on request. Current owners have lived on board, cruising London waterways for 3 years. Previous owners lived on board at a marina for 10 years. Beautiful and well-maintained boat, viewings welcome. Booked in at Bulbourne Dry Dock in Spring 2018.

Taunton is on the bank at Bates Boatyard and visible from the tow path. It has new bottom boards as of approx. 15 years ago, chine was replaced then and half of the 2nd strake. The stem and stern would need extensive work as well as a section two planks deep that was been cut 3' wide mid ship involving the top plank, gunnel, lining plank and 5th strake in this area. Taunton is on the National Historic Ships register and is an unconverted butty with many original features.

One of the last (or the last) Sephton boats Coventry left. In 1928 it was built as a horse boat for Samuel Barlow Coal Company. Grantham as master.
